As with all electronic devices the features that come with certain items are going to vary based on how much money you spend, who you are buying the device from and other factors. But like with all items there are certain things that you are going to want your hidden camera to have before you buy it, basically you want certain features to come stock with the hidden camera. What this means is that there are going to be certain features that you are going to want to look for before you decide on which hidden camera is going to work best for you and your needs. Also remember if you are in doubt you can always ask somebody for help or what they have found that works.

Here are some of the key features that you are going to want to have with a hidden camera.

  • High power – basically what this means is that you are going to want to have one that has 2.4GHz transmitters, in fact in order to comply with the FCC standards the hidden camera has to have that high of a transmitter. This high of a transmitter will allow you to increase your transmission by 1500 feet which will give you about 2500 feet total
  • X-vision – this is actually something that is only going to come on hidden cameras that are in black and white, so if you are opting for color camera then you will be limited on when and where you can record. This x-vision allows you to get the best possible images in almost complete darkness, meaning there doesn’t have to be much light in the room to get the best visual possible.
  • Power required – 12V DC/110V AC
  • Min. Illumination - .05 Lux for black and white and 1 Lux for color
  • Resolution – 400 lines for black and white and 380 lines for color
  • Size – basically you are going to be looking for a camera that is has about a 3 mm lens with a wide angle

When it comes to choosing a surveillance camera there are many different options to choose from because of how many different makes and models there are currently available and more keep getting introduced each day. But if you are considering buying a surveillance camera then you need to look for certain features. Basically you need to make sure that the camera you are choosing comes with certain things before you purchase that camera. But keep in mind that the cameras are going to have other features in addition to what you are supposed to be looking for.

Here are some of the key features that every surveillance camera should have:

  • Motion activation recording – basically what this allows you to be able to start recording the minute that the camera spots any kind of motion. This is actually really good for outdoor surveillance cameras or cameras that are in an obscure location.
  • Scheduled recording – many times there are certain periods of the day where repeated activities occur that you want to be able to catch on film. This feature allows you to set up a pre-set time to record the activities and will also allow you to program the days and times you want to record.
  • Remote playback and recording – basically this feature is going to allow you to access what you have recorded and play it back or set the record option on your camera from a remote location. What this means is that you are not going to be at the home PC to actually record or playback what has been going on.
  • Customized detection zones – this is a great feature to have because it allows you to set up the areas that you want to be recorded, which are your customized zones. You can decide which areas need how much coverage or when they need coverage.

Just reading the title dummy cameras can make you stop and think what in the world are they talking about. What ion the world could dummy cameras have to do with spy gear; basically why in the world would a spy gear website have a blog about dummy cameras instead of surveillance cameras or hidden cameras. The reason for this is that dummy cameras are actually a very useful tool in the spy gear business. And yes this means that spy gear websites will sell you dummy cameras in addition to all of the other high end video cameras that you are looking to purchase to make your world safer. In fact some of your surveillance systems will actually come with some dummy cameras to use in addition to the actual cameras.

But before you go and spend hundreds of dollars on a surveillance system or on hidden cameras that you plan to plant around your house you might want to think more about dummy cameras. Basically dummy cameras are fake cameras, they look very similar to surveillance cameras but in fact they don’t do anything. And because they don’t record anything they are quite a bit cheaper than your hidden video cameras and your surveillance cameras. Dummy cameras work great because they make people think that you are watching and recording them, which is the look of what you want.

But one thing that you need to keep in mind with using dummy cameras is that you are not actually recording anything so if anything does happen you are not going to have anything on video tape to prove what happened. It is because of this that many people will actually use a combination of dummy cameras and surveillance cameras; this also makes it harder for people to tell if the cameras are real or not.

If you have ever watched certain movies then you probably already know everything there is to know about bugs. Basically in the spy world bugs are little electronic devices that can be placed around the room to record things that you are doing in a certain area, they can record conversations that take place in certain rooms or they can even be attached to telephones to record all of your private phone conversations. Regardless of what types of bugs are planted they all basically do they same thing and that is they are actually being used to spy on you and gather evidence against you if there is any suspicion of wrong doing. To many people this would actually be considered a gross violation of their privacy, but for the people who are planting the bugs all they care about is gathering information that they can possibly use against you in the near future or even in the late future depending on the information that they collect.

So know that you have a basic understanding about bugs you might want to know that because of the nature of these electronic bugs they are also usually very small which makes them easy to conceal. What this means is that more often than not you will be unaware that there is even a bug that has been planted in your house. So does this mean that you are at a bug’s mercy, that you have to let it record and just continue on with your daily life? Actually this does not mean that, which means there is something that you can do to find out if somebody has planted bugs in your house. Basically all you need to do to find out if you are surrounded by bugs is to purchase a bug detector.
